Our Wedding

We got married on September 4, 2010 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. The weather was perfect, the ceremony was breathtaking, and my parents hosted a beautiful evening of dinner and dancing at The Big Chill. Our reception turned into one huge dance party and we wouldn't have had it any other way. Above all, we were able to share the first day of our Happily Ever After with our closest and dearest family and friends. 

After graduating from Appalachian State in 2007 with a degree in Public Relations, I accidentally landed a job in Event Planning and it has been a passion of mine ever since. Planning our wedding was a dream come true and I handled every single detail with extra TLC. We wanted a classy, timeless event and for our guests to leave saying one thing "now that was a ridiculously fun wedding!"I worked with some of the best of the best in the Charlotte area and cannot brag about them enough! A hidden gem in Charlotte if there ever is one. Tucked away in Dilworth near Uptown Charlotte, The Big Chill was exactly the city chic vibe I was going for. Tyler and his team did an amazing job from start to finish. It was love as soon as I walked in the door...and then I spotted the giant dance floor and after that, it. was. all. over. The Big Chill does their own in house catering and if you know me and my family, you know that we take our food seriously. Tyler and McKenzie worked closely with me to customize the perfect menu- down to a special southern staple, shrimp and grits! The communication provided by Tyler was impeccable during the nine months leading up to our wedding. He didn't miss a beat and I had zero worries on our Wedding Day. We loved The Big Chill because it's unique, family owned, the team is professional and the venue drop dead gorgeous. The pictures on the website don't do this place justice. Wedding Photography is quite possibly one of the most important components to planning a wedding. These are the memories you will have forever and ever to remember each detail of your Wedding Day. Well, if a picture speaks 1,000 words, Lindsay's speak about 100,000 more. I came across Lindsay's work through a dear friend and I was in love. Lindsay says that when we met, the angel choirs started singing, and I wholeheartedly believe that. Within 5 minutes, I knew that she was the photographer that I wanted to capture our Wedding Day. As soon as we saw our day captured through her lens...waterworks! Her images speak for themselves and her talent is undeniable. And to top it off, she's organized, efficient and gives each little detail her full attention. Hire her!


DJ- Brian Keelan, Z Brothers DJs


I am a music junkie, and I was very particular about finding someone who could keep the party rolling and play a little something for everyone. Brian was recommended to me by Tyler from The Big Chill. Since Z Brothers were very familiar with our venue, this was a HUGE plus right off the bat. Brian is professional, classy and loves music as much as I do! He spent so much time developing the perfect playlist and besides having a fabulous party crowd, we owe much of the dance floor action to Brian's fantastic DJ skills. Z Brothers comes highly recommended by me!

Rehearsal Dinner- Big View Diner

Ilios Noche is by far my very favorite restaurant in Charlotte and a frequent date night spot for me and Mark. It was not even a question that we wanted Ilios Noche food at our rehearsal dinner. Since Ilios is not big enough for a huge private party, we booked family party room at Big View Diner, a sister restaurant, also part of Stratos Restaurant Group. I grabbed some of my favorite items from the Ilios kitchen and worked with Stratos, Angelo and Frank to create a custom  menu that made my mouth water. All three of these men are remarkable professionals and we couldn't have been happier with our rehearsal dinner. The food was flawless, the atmosphere was fun and the customer service is really the best of the best. As if that wasn't enough, we were surprised with an over the top dessert display that was almost too beautiful to eat. Special event or not, go eat at any of these restaurants. Then come back and thank me.

Another one of the best of the best in Charlotte- NY Bride is truly "girly heaven"! This store is owned by a mother and daughter team and is staffed with some of the sweetest girls. I miss seeing them on a regular basis! The selection of dresses is truly jaw dropping. Working with the staff was a true joy. My dress was altered by the in house seamstress, who also re-did my mother's veil for me to wear. Perfection on all levels. Not only did I purchase my dress there, but my Bridesmaids' dresses came from there, Mark and his Groomsmen and our dads all rented their tuxes from there as well. Special thanks to Tracy, Megan, Krista and Cory for everything!
