Kate's Nursery

Now that she's a year old, it's about time I share pictures of Miss Kate's nursery, right!? It's too pretty not to share! Her room just makes me SO HAPPY

I will admit, I had been dreaming of a baby girl nursery far before we ever knew that Kate was on the way. I eyed this wallpaper a few years ago and KNEW that if I ever had a girl, this would be on the must have list and would be the starting point to the room.

My original inspiration came from one of my favorite local bloggers! (HERE

Fast forward to June of 2015 when we found out that Kate was, in fact, Kate, my wallpaper dreams were about to come true! The original wall from Will's baby days was a painted vertical stripe. My mom was my wallpaper guru and spent the better part of an entire day hanging it. It was a labor of love and soooo worth it. I remember when it was done thinking it was even more beautiful than I thought it would be!

Because we didn't find out what Will was, so much of his nursery was white and bright and neutral. I was able to use all of the furniture and bedding, as it all worked beautifully with the wallpaper and, frankly, it was just crazy to buy everything new again. We simply moved Will into a big boy room and transformed the nursery for the little princess.

Here is a little flashback to the nursery when Will came home:

Although a little time consuming, the wallpaper was a simple change that totally transformed the entire look of room!

I swapped out the artwork over the changing table, dresser and added a few more feminine touches. The circular mirror medallions were actually hanging in our house when we lived in Illinois and I'm so glad that I hung onto them! I painted them white and knew they would be the perfect addition. I still find myself adding small details here and there as I find things. I like to decorate with meaning and sometimes it takes a little extra time to find something that you love vs. just buying something because you have to fill the space or because the colors match.

So much planning and prepping goes into the rooms of these tiny humans and I can't help but get all warm and fuzzy when I think back to a little over a year ago when she was still cozy in my belly.

I carefully got everything ready, making sure it was perfect for her the day she came home. It's a crazy feeling getting ready to meet someone that you already love so, so much. I've spent hours upon hours in that chair, rocking both of my babies, and it's still my favorite spot in the house.

The sweetest little space for my sweetest girl!

Kate: 12 Months Old

It's been a full year with Miss Kate and we can't believe she is a year old!

It's been the best year with this little girl and watching her grow is so bittersweet but really gets more fun every day.

At her 12 month appointment, she is weighing right at 19 pounds and is 28 inches long. Still a little peanut on the growth chart but she is perfect! She is still wearing mostly 6-12 month clothes.

Kate is bursting with personality. She is drama filled in the cutest ways and already such a girl. She holds up anything to her ear and pretends its a phone. Her little way of saying "hi" is the best! She is saying mama, dada, and "ni- ni" as she puts her head down when she's tired. She is still making the funniest little whistling noise that we all love so much. She's giving hugs and kisses and loves to snuggle.

She is cruising fast around the furniture but still could care less about walking. I thought for sure she would be earlier than Will but it's not looking that way. I'm actually okay with it because I'm convinced that she'll just be my little baby forever.

I think we have a little dancer on our hands. She loooooves music and stands on one leg like she's practicing ballet when she holds onto the couch or the coffee table. She dances at the sound of any tune and always with the biggest smile on her face. She also loves to pretend to talk on the phone.

Books are a favorite in our house! Kate has started to crawl over to our book basket and picks out what she wants. The Pout Pout Fish is still the number 1 fave for morning story time with Mark. When she sees the book she says "blub blub bluuuuuub". Will has the entire thing memorized and loves reading it to her.

Kate seriously loves her big brother more and more each day. They have the sweetest little relationship growing. She crawls into him with hugs, laughs at anything he does and gets so excited to see him, even if they've only been apart for five minutes.

We celebrated her first birthday with family and a few friends and it was the best day! She was loving all of the special attention and of course, her party dress! She loved her first bites of cake and it didn't take long for her to dive head first into it.

It's been the very best year with our little girl and we love her more than we ever thought possible.

Happy 12 months and Happy First Birthday, Princess Kate!!!

Kate: 10 Months Old!

Our little bitty princess is TEN MONTHS OLD! Double digit months and only two more months until she's a year. It's just all going too fast and I don't care how many times I say that. She has grown so much but is still such a little baby at the same time. Each month gets sweeter with this girl and we love her more everyday.

She weighs around 17 pounds and is now 27 inches long! She has graduated to size 2 diapers finally. She is wearing mostly 6 month clothes and some 6-12. And it's almost time to spice up the Fall wardrobe! I'm going to miss those sweet summer rompers though.

Kate is officially crawling and moving all over the place. She's a wild little thing and doesn't like to sit still much these days. She's getting fast and especially loves it when Will chases her around the house. It took her no time at all to figure out how to crawl everywhere. About two weeks ago, she figure out how to stand in her crib and was so proud of herself she couldn't stand it. It's so much fun to watch them learn new things and show so much pride while doing so.

Miss Kate is full of tricks! She claps, still shakes her head and smacks her little lips in the cutest way possible. Her wave most of the time is her hand opening and closing and it's my favorite thing ever. She has started pointing to things lately which is so cute. Her tiny voice is starting to develop and she's making more and more sounds each day. She especially loves to blow through her mouth and make the littlest whistling sounds! She says "da-da" when she sees Mark so we are claiming that as her first word.

Mealtime has gotten messier these days as we have started her on more soft finger foods. She usually gets a puree with each meal but she's dong so well chewing on small pieces of roasted vegetables, fruits and even some meat! She loves meatballs and roasted chicken and has honestly eaten everything she's ever tried.

Kate is loving books more now than she ever has. She sits in our laps and looks at the pictures and takes it all in while making happy noises and laughing. Her favorite book right now is a board book called Little Fish with an orange fish puppet that pokes through a hole on each page. She laughs so hard when you make the fish move. She doesn't discriminate when it comes to books though because when Will gets his daily morning story with Daddy, she is crawling up to them on the couch scooting in to join.

Also...when you show up at the playground in the same romper as one of your baby BFFs!? All the heart eyes.

My mom recently brought over my American Girl Doll and Bitty Baby to store for Kate to enjoy someday. I was curious how Kate would react to the baby doll and she went NUTS! I ask her where her baby is and she starts kicking and laughing and immediately kisses the baby's face.

Aside from her own toys, her favorite toys are anything that Will is playing with! She's become especially fond of the Paw Patroller.

I never want to forget all of these little things. Like the way she buries her head in my chest when she gets embarassed. Or the way she goes crazy when Mark walks through the door. She looks at her big brother with the most loving look I have ever seen in my life, next to the way she gazes at me as she dozes off to sleep as I rock her each night. She has the same little nose as Will that scrunches up when she over-smiles or knows that she just did something cute. She has a big personality in a tiny package and it's so much fun to watch her turn into this amazing person.

We love you so much, baby Kate and we can't believe how fast your first year is happening. This time last year we were weeks away from meeting you yet it's hard to believe how we ever lived without you.

Happy 10 months, Princess Kate!
